Indian George Creek Estuarine Restoration Site

Indian George Creek Estuarine Restoration Site by VisitWa

Take Linger Longer Road east from HWY 101 in Quilcene, and follow south for 1.25 miles. Great for picnics and splashing in the bay! Very close to downtown Quilcene. Paved parking and a public toilet are available here at Indian George Creek Beach, but the real attractions are sandy shores and lovely views across the clear waters of Quilcene Bay over to wooded East Quilcene and the Toandos peninsula beyond. Bring a picnic and blanket or towel. Industrial use and erosion threatened to degrade this lovely shore so a restoration project now protects the environment and allows public access. The Quilcene Marina and shellfish nurseries are just farther down Linger Longer road, for more exploring. http://emeraldtowns.com/2011/02/24/indian-george-creek-estuarine-restoration-site/

The “Canyon Trail” is steep, with intermediate exertion, and the "Loop Trail" is easy. Drive to the back of the left (south) campground loop to access either trail. If the campground gate is closed (seasonally) park at the entrance on Hwy 101 and walk in. There are public restrooms, picnic spots and free parking whichever trail you choose. http://www.olympicpeninsulawaterfalltrail.com/falls-view-falls

It features a large playground with a climb-ing rock, water spray feature and basket-ball court. A 1/4 mile paved path loops around a large open grass area which is popular with both exercise walkers and those taking a leisurely stroll.
