Built in 1892 by the town’s co-founder and first mayor, R.H. Espy, the Oysterville church, as well as the entire town of Oysterville, was named to the National Registry of Historic Places in 1976. Originally Baptist, the church became nondenominational in the 1980s, is open to the public and is a favorite venue for concerts during the Water Music Festival. The church, as well as the homes of the founding families, an original oyster building and a 1905 one-room schoolhouse, is highlighted on a walking tour. From Oysterville, visitors often explore the oyster beds of Willapa Bay, the trails of Leadbetter Point State Park, the landmark Nahcotta post office, and the shops, galleries and eateries of Ocean Park.
